Top 5 reasons you should have a P.O Box

If you create the PO Box using your “Business Name”, with you as the owner, then you can receive your ‘business mail’ (gifts, or camming related stuff) AND your personal mail there too. At least I do =) I’ve even made Joy Lovewell one of my employees who can receive mail there too =) As the ‘owner’ of the company, all I need to do is show my ID (with the same PO Box listed on it =) to pick up Joy’s letters or gifts.

For as little as $30 a year*, most of our local US post offices offer PO Boxes. Is it a PITA (pain in the ass) to have to march to the PO to get some of your mail? Yes. But peace of mind and our personal security, especially in this business, are vitally important.

Unfortunately the USPS.com does not offer specific prices or availability online. You have to actually stop by the PO to find out what they have available. FYI, if the smallest one’s are all full, then I think they may have a waiting list. Ask to see.

*The smallest boxes don’t hold much mail, so if you don’t plan on going very often you might want to get a larger one. After all, it’s a business expense too, so you can write some of the cost off on your taxes. They will hold larger items for pick-up from the clerks, but if your box is over full too often they’re going to ask you to up-size to a larger box….. and we all hate doing address changes to everyone we know =p So do a little planning and get the proper size, right from the start.

Bonus: If you move within your local area, changing street addresses, the PO Box may continue to work for you. It’ll save you doing ‘We’ve moved!” address changes =)
